Gusbourne English Wine
Strategic brand support for a premium English wine brand.
Supporting Gusbourne, the award-winning English wine producer, on strategic brand positioning, from the launch of its first prestige cuvée to a set of principles that guide how the brand shows up.
The challenge
Gusbourne makes exceptional English wines, with an understated, luxury feel. As the business grew, it faced some important brand moments, including the launch of its first prestige cuvée, alongside the ongoing work of building brand awareness and loyalty.
As the brand reached more people in more places, it also needed a clear, shared view of how it should show up, wherever people came across it.
The solution
I worked alongside the CEO and marketing team on strategic brand projects, including:
Fifty One Degrees North. Positioning and key messages for Gusbourne's first prestige cuvée, ahead of its launch.
Brand principles. Developing a clear set of brand principles to govern the way the brand shows up. Each one is a practical decision-making tool, helping the team choose what to do, what to say and what to protect.
The results
Gusbourne had experienced input on important brand decisions. Fifty One Degrees North launched with clear positioning and key messages in place, and the team now has a set of clear principles to guide how the brand is expressed.
I also supported the team on its winning application for British Luxury Brand of the Year at the 2025 Walpole British Luxury Awards.
“Emily provided us with the insightful support and clarity that we needed when working on the strategic positioning ahead of the launch of our first vintage of Fifty One Degrees North, our prestige sparkling wine. Emily’s thoughtful direction and relentless enthusiasm undoubtedly ensured we achieved our aspirations.”
